William Wordsworth

The famous Lakeland poet William Wordsworth spent just over 8 years of his life living at Dove Cottage in Grasmere, close to Ambleside

The cottage is now a museum, and is open to the public for guided tours along with the gardens.

During his life he also resided in the neighbouring village of Rydal at the now famous "Rydal Mount".

Wordsworth drew inspiration from the landscape of the Lake District with his most famous poem talking of a "host of golden daffodils", but with many more using features of the Lakeland way of life and landscape.
